These cookies were AWESOME. It totally fulfilled my chocolate craving and it was easy to make. I had all the ingredients already and it didn’t require egg at all. That made me eat a lot of the batter…yum….batter..
My housemates loved them. They were gone after a day.. or maybe two. Even the one who doesn’t like too much chocolate!
Now the recipe called for cranberries and I didn’t want cranberries. So no cranberries. But if you look at the link, you’ll get cranberries. cranberries cranberries cranberries.
1 cup flour
¼ tsp. baking soda
few dashes of salt salt
1/2 stick unsalted butter
2/3 cup plain sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar (I used Trader Joe’s organic)
7 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (I used Droste brand) (Hersheys brand and it was just fine)
1/3 cup plain yogurt (used buttermilk instead because I got no yogurt)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup dried cranberries1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix together flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
3. Put the butter into a small ceramic bowl and microwave it until it melts. Add in sugars, sift in the cocoa powder and mix well. Add in the vanilla extract and yogurt, followed by the dry ingredients in the bowl you set aside.
4. Stir in the chocolate chips and dried fruit.
5. Use a tablespoon to place walnut-sized balls of dough on the cookie sheet (leave about an inch all around). Bake for about 10 minutes, until you see some cracks in the top of the cookies. Since they’re chewy, they’re pretty delicate, so be careful when transferring them to a rack to cool and then straight to a plate–or your mouth! You may need to repeat the process 2 times. Next time, I might double the recipe.
Like I say, no cranberries!!!

So glad that you enjoyed these! The cranberries are absolutely option. I tend to love various dried fruits in my cookies (apricots, cherries, cranberries…), but these are certainly just as good without them. Thanks for checking out my blog, too.
